  1. Zombie Toxin Haunted House

    Zombie Toxin is more than just a haunted house, it tells a story. A new story comes to life every year and this year Dr. Vonmonschture's experiments go terrible wrong. Beware of the ZOMBIES! The Zombie Toxin haunted house has been a staple of Halloween fun for seven years. The 9,000 sq foot haunt takes about 15 to 20 minutes to complete. The house has twists and turns throughout each room adding to the story of the doctor's life . From the kitchen to the backyard there is always something waiting to scare. Scream & laugh as you move through the house as you are intrigued one room at a time. An additional $5 each will get you in to the The Cabin - a Zombie Onslaught (virtual reality room) or Dr. Vonmonschture's Head Shed (Escape Room)! Fast Pass available to cut your time in half.

  2. PINK OUT!

    October 19, 2018, 7:00 PM @ Al Simpler Stadium

    Geary Community Hospital and Junction City High School are teaming up to host a breast cancer awareness “Pink Out” night at Al Simpler Stadium during the football game on Friday, October 19, 2018. This is the first year GCH has sponsored a game to raise awareness of breast cancer. In addition to the Junction City fans wearing pink, the football team will be wearing pink socks, coaches will be wearing pink hats, the band drum majors wearing pink plumes, the color guard will have pink flags, and the cheerleaders will be waving pink pom-poms. All game attendees are encouraged to join in the “Pink Out” and wear pink in some fashion. Geary Community Hospital and Junction City High School know that coming together to bring awareness to the fight against breast cancer is important to the well-being of all members of this community.

  4. Geary County Hunter Ed Field Course

    October 20, 2018, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM @ Sportsman Acres

    Students must complete the online portion of the course prior to attending the field day. The online course is accessed by links at http://ksoutdoors.com/Services/Education/Hunter/Internet-assisted-Course. Each student will be issued a pre-test over the online materials. All students will be tested over the Internet course material. This pre-test will be administered at the beginning of the Field Day. A passing score of 22 correct answers out of 25 questions is required to proceed with the rest of the course. Students failing to achieve the minimum score of 22 will be dismissed from the class. The field walk session will be as much like an actual hunt as possible. It is recommended to wear boots or walking shoes and long pants. Lunch will be provided (Donations are encouraged) or you can bring your own lunch. You will not have time to go into town for lunch.

    USA Today bestselling author Patricia Davids has spent countless hours researching Amish communities and their customs to give her readers factual details in her popular Amish fiction stories, and she is always happy to share what she has learned about this unique culture. Her program touches on Amish history as well as what makes the Amish different from mainstream Americans and how Amish settlements differ from one another. Buggies, bonnets and shunning are what the Amish are known for, but even these hallmarks of the culture vary from place to place. Join Patricia as she spends an educational and humorous hour giving you a peek inside the closed world of the Amish. Frank Talk was created to honor the memory of former Assistant Director Carol Franklin. The intent of this series is to bring authors, illustrators and other book industry professionals to the community.

  9. All Treats Day!

    October 25, 2018, 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM @ Downtown JC between 6th & 10th Street and 12th Street Community Center

    Come out for the annual Halloween All Treats Day.  The Junction City High School Marching Band will lead the parade at 5:30 p.m. with eager children in their costumes following behind.  Local merchants and businesses will hand out candy to the children as they march down Washington Street.  There will be a hot dog stand located at Exchange Bank with the proceeds going to the United Way and Flint Hills Church. Junction City will also be there to pass out balloon animals to the children.  Then, it’s off to the 12th Street Community Center at 1002 W 2th Street for games, treats, and more from 6-7 pm.  We can’t wait for this ‘spooktacular’ night! Sponsored by the Junction City Area Chamber of Commerce and Junction City Parks and Recreation Department.

    Each year individuals and households accumulate many personal financial and health documents which require secure disposal to prevent Identity Theft. The library is partnering with Document Resources, a Division of Underground Vaults & Storage, to offer a FREE shed day to dispose of the general public’s personal documents and files. (Documents from businesses will not be accepted. Please bring only personal and household materials to the event). There is a limit of 5 boxes or bags per household.

Our guides and storytellers will share ghost stories that have been reported by residents of haunted homes and employees who work in haunted facilities. There will also be a generous sprinkling of historical tidbits about Fort Riley, and some of the many interesting things that have happened on and around the Post. Don't miss this interesting and spooky look at what seems familiar in the light of day.
