Amish Fiction: A Glimpse Into a Closed World-A FRANK TALK Lecture Series Program

Sunday, October 21, 2018

USA Today bestselling author Patricia Davids has spent countless hours researching Amish communities and their customs to give her readers factual details in her popular Amish fiction stories, and she is always happy to share what she has learned about this unique culture. Her program touches on Amish history as well as what makes the Amish different from mainstream Americans and how Amish settlements differ from one another. Buggies, bonnets and shunning are what the Amish are known for, but even these hallmarks of the culture vary from place to place. Join Patricia as she spends an educational and humorous hour giving you a peek inside the closed world of the Amish. Frank Talk was created to honor the memory of former Assistant Director Carol Franklin. The intent of this series is to bring authors, illustrators and other book industry professionals to the community.
